School's History

Mrs. Tahira Ghias joined Al Waha in 1993, then Jeddah Montessori, as a teacher. She soon became an integral part of the school. Mrs. Ghias stood apart from the rest in her unbridled compassion for children, a genuine care for teaching, and an enthusiasm for instilling moral values in young minds.

At Al Waha, she not only taught students, but streamlined the curriculum, diligently recruited required staff and trained them personally. Mrs. Ghias established the initial policies and procedures for students and staff. Most importantly, she shaped the school's character of care and compassion, which still exists in the environment today. She was a keen observer, sympathetic listener and ever ready to help everyone, in whatever way she could. She passed away in 2023, leaving a legacy marked by dedication, commitment and compassion.

Mrs. Rubab Azad has served the institution from January 2000 to 2018. She began her tenure as the Senior School Vice Principal and later became the Academic Director. Mrs. Rubab joined the school when it offered classes only up to Grade 6 and played a pivotal role in its expansion to Grade 12. She led the school toward the IGCSE program, developed a structured curriculum, and prepared students to appear for AS and A Level examinations. Under her leadership, the school successfully transitioned into a full-fledged secondary institution, preparing students for internationally recognised qualifications and higher education opportunities. Her contributions to curriculum development continue to guide the school even today through her visionary leadership, perseverance and unwavering commitment to high standards.

Mrs. Farozan Warsi, who served as the Academic Director, Junior School from 2005 to 2018, brought revolutionary changes to early childhood education at Al Waha. She laid the foundation of the Junior School and introduced the integrated Montessori system of education. This strengthened the foundation of our KG students and contributed significantly to their development. Her dedication to child-centered learning helped establish a nurturing environment that continues to influence teaching practices in the Junior School. Even while working remotely from Canada, her influence continues to guide and inspire our teachers.

We place on record our sincere appreciation for Mrs. Fazeena Zaki, who served as the school Registrar from its inception. She was a staunch supporter of our vision and mission and was a pillar of strength in maintaining the quality and integrity of the institution. She passed away in 2024. However, her legacy of dedication, professionalism, values, and unwavering commitment remains an enduring source of inspiration for our school community.

The school’s journey into the future was paved by the invaluable contributions of those who believed in our mission. We would like to specifically mention and thank the following individuals for their exceptional service and dedication: Ms. Siddiqa Halabi, Ms. Nusrat Khan, Ms. Durdana Khan Saeed and Ms. Bushra Nadwi.
